Male Menopause

Andropause is a physical decline in hormone levels that during the middle ages. This is no joke. Andropause occurs in millions of men between the ages of 40 and 55. The hidden problem of the reduction in the male hormone production is the reason for the increase in sales of drugs like Viagra.

The male who is experiencing Andropaus symptoms has mood swings just like the female. Other symptoms might include the following:

  • Problem with sleep
  • Gaining weight
  • Libido
  • Problems achieving or maintaining erections
  • Erections are less rigid
  • Decrease in sensation.

Male menopause does not receive the attention or the concern from health professional in the same intensity as female menopause.

When men start experiencing any of the above symptoms, they run to their doctor for a prescription for Viagra. Men require more directed help in dealing with the entire spectrum of symptoms of Andropause.

But men do not like going to a doctor unless the symptoms seem life threatening. they would rather get a quick fix for the problems with erections than talk to a doctor about feeling depressed.

One of the main causes of Andropause is the decline in testosterone levels. As the levels of testosterone decline so does the male sex drive. Increasing the testosterone levels is part of the problem but is not the quick fix. Getting older involves the loss of other important hormones and proteins that need to be replaced to keep the male body functioning properly.

This mix of hormones and proteins must be kept in balance for sexual health and optimal functionality. It’s the disruption of this delicate balance of these substances that results in the symptoms of male menopause.

Men have unique health requirements. The multi-vitamin mix of nutrients that are created for women will not necessarily replace the loss of hormones that are needed for the male system. Men have unique different biological needs.

A sage recommendation for men who are experiencing a decline in hormone levels is that they exercise, eat a healthy diet, monitor alcohol intake, and refrain from smoking. In addition, there are formulations of herbs and vitamins that men can take to re- balance their hormones levels.

A specialist must prescribe some treatments. But there are other treatments available over the counter. Some natural medicine combined with a healthy lifestyle can promote and treat the symptoms of Andropause.

Taking a multivitamin supplement designed with ingredients that address male Andropause will help maintain proper biological balance and assist in avoiding disease.

Additional healthy strategies for men to reduce and control symptoms includes:

  • Increasing the daily intake of fruits and vegetables - High fiber and low fat foods rich in Vitamins B6, B12, and Folic Acid
  • Eat more tomatoes - Tomatoes get their bright color from lycopene, which is a photochemical that is known to block the carcinogens. Lycopene also support prostate health. Studies show that lycopene may be more easily absorbed from tomatoes that are cooked.
  • Vitamin C boosts immune functions. Vitamin C promotes the regrowth and repair of body tissues
  • Minimize the consumption of beef, pork, poultry and fish. Make it a habit to enjoy one meatless day per week. Some experts contend that these foods can be a concentrated source of dioxin and other potent carcinogens.

You can treat your symptoms with non drug alternatives. Some simple lifestyle changes may be necessary but they are worth it.
