Drug Induce Hair Loss

Drug induce hair loss, is it possible?

Drug is a chemical substance which is entered our body in purpose-to help us bring back our normal condition. However, besides the good effect, we can also get side effect, mostly negative and unwanted side effect when we use certain drugs in a continuous time.

In the manufacturer leaflet we can find statements for side effect or contra indication. It was based on the studies in the lab or cases that have been reported from users during their usage period. That information helps us aware about what might happen to us if we use their product. That’s why we have to read carefully (even if we are under a doctor supervision) before taking a drug.

When you are eating certain drugs that labelled to have side effect in causing baldness or you have hereditary bald from your family, it’s wise to consult with your doctor.

Some drugs can cause hair loss. It can be temporary or permanent hair loss.

These are some of drugs that induce hair loss:

  • Acne treatment contain vitamin A

  • Epilepsy drug

  • Anti depression

  • Hormonal containing drugs such as Birth Control Pills.

If you have to eat drug that can induce hair loss, do some hair treatment to reverse the side effect. Applying hair tonic contains Ginseng extract and shampooing with the right shampoo might help to reduce hair loss.

What should be remembered are:

  1. Different people react differently to a drug.

  2. You never know how your body react to a drug until you drink it.

  3. Even a doctor or drug manufacturer can only predict the effect base on trial or cases that has been reported.
